everyone and their mother likes to make those big posts about african black soap and baby oils that fixed their acne skin and how miraculous that was for them but i'm coming at this from this perspective of someone who got bad skin from going on the pill and having my hormones throw a bitchfit on my cheeks
(i'm also someone who scars like a motherfucker. like i have this monster scar on my arm that is literally from me burning myself a little when i took a cake out of the oven. it looks like someone cut a chunk out of me and it's literally a CAKE BURN)
wisdom i can offer:
scrubs are rarely a good idea. like sometimes, yes, when you have a buildup of dead skin cells and need to a start afresh but LORD don't use the ones with ground up peach stones in them or whatever because your face will become rife with microtears and that is basically begging spots to get born on your face.
for discolouration: lush's catastrophic cosmetic mask is a blessing if you use it on the semi-reg and in problem areas. moisturise lightly after use.
also in general, be vvvvvv. careful with your moisturiser. check the ingredients on the back.
AVOID STUFF WITH LINALOOL IN IT because it can irritate your skin even more if its dry or eczema prone like seriously
i stopped wearing foundation full stop in february and it has been nice because i've kind of had to learn to love my odd blotchy cheeks. but also it's really cleared up a problem area on my forehead - and i was using like 'good for skin i promise this won't make u spotty' foundation and it still was clearly fucking with my ph
a pro tip is that skin literally eats everything you put on it. just remember that always because that's another reason why i stopped wearing foundation bc i realised how much of it my skin was literally ABSORBING
oh and i know everyone says about bio oil, but use it a lil bit. and try avoid the areas like the nose creases that get mad oily anyway. you can buy cheap little tissue things for blotting oils when you're out and about and now it's approaching summer again (tho it doesn't feel like it whatsoever) i would say give those a shot because its the resting sweat and stuff on your face that pisses off your skin too
there is obviously TONS more i could say (like i can't stress enough how important washing ur pillowcase is like try swap out your pillowcase as often as poss, have spares so you only have to wash it occasionally but the one touching your face is fresh i beg u)
but yeah nobody actually asked my opinion so i'll just leave this here in case anyone actually wants my mini tips x
