a collection of small, happy things i have collated. this isn’t a blog post as much as it’s a shoebox full of scraps of paper where i’m stating things that have made me smile recently. my antidepressants are working, which is the nicest twist to 2019 i could have hoped for.
- stardew valley is an absolute raging delight. the soundtrack is happiness. i love how sometimes when you’re scything grass, a frog hops out.
- porridge with honey in the morning.
- the packaging and art of obscure craft beers. we found a place called ‘beercraft of bath’ and the man in there poured me a half-pint of rhubarb cider at like 3pm when i had a terrible hangover anyway because i misheard him and thought he just asked if i was going to buy anything. he told us obscure facts abt the abv content of fruit ciders.
- swmrs - ‘too much coffee’ / ‘april in houston’
- raspberry and passionfruit yogurt!
- the first episode of season 2 of fleabag was a magnificent piece of screenwriting that, at the very least, has subtly changed my life
- i joined this facebook page called ‘frogspotting’ and it consists solely of people sharing photos of their pet frogs and expressing their deep love of frogs. if you comment and compliment someone’s frog, they always love react your comment and respond with fervent enthusiasm abt how dank their frog is.
- i saw an absolutely gorgeously drawn illustration of some scones and apricot jam. an artist sat and spent hours drawing them because they were so compelled by the idea of SCONES AND APRICOT JAM. (her photo is the photo attached 2 this post. supportin the artist yo, pls admire her gorgeous produce 1 / 2 / 3)
- i’ve been in a really creative mood recently. just been compelled to make stuff up. not even good stuff. like, honestly. playing stardew valley was enough to compel me to daydream up a little narrative set in that world. i haven’t done that sort of shit since i was like, 12. some good bea brain shit.
- p much all lyrics by the front bottoms
- on thursday, it was the super worm moon and i got texts from my mother that read ‘i’m literally sat here watching birds gorge themselves on worms!!’ and ‘the magic has begun! i was gardening earlier and there were so many worms! i was like hey big fella back you go’. the purest text messages i have ever received and could ever hope to receive
(and that’s my week ! plus, some kale and broccoli pesto pasta.)
